The international health agency made the announcement in a tweet shared on its official Twitter handle. 

It read; 

More than 8,000 health workers have been infected with #COVID19 in the Region. This is why infection prevention control #IPC awareness is vital for all. @WHO  partners have trained 50,000+ health workers to protect themselves patients, aims to reach over 200,000 in 2020.
