According to a recent report released by Ctrip, China's largest online travel agency, more than 1,500 scenic spots across the country have offered free or discounted entry, and more than 20 provincial and municipal governments have issued travel vouchers. Given the recovery of the Chinese tourism market, 600 million tourists are expected to go traveling during this year's eight-day National Day holiday.
The report shows that more than 1,500 scenic spots across the country have offered free tickets or discounts, including more than 400 in Central China's Hubei Province, 400 in South China's Guizhou Province and over 80 in Northwestern Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. For example, a total of 85 A-level scenic spots in Xinjiang have exempted ticket fees and 420 A-level scenic spots in Guizhou Province have offered a 50 percent discount for all entrance fees.
In addition, more than 20 provincial and municipal governments have issued travel vouchers to stimulate consumption. Visitors can get these vouchers on online travel platforms and receive subsidies for accommodation, tickets and customized vacation packages.
As recovery of the domestic air passenger market accelerates and tourism revitalization policies are launched, the industry is optimistic about the recovery of the tourism market during this year's National Day holiday.
Data show that during the seven-day National Day holiday in 2019, domestic tourists reached 782 million, generating revenue of 649.71 billion yuan ($95.2 billion). Experts estimate that, in the upcoming eight-day holiday, tourist visits may exceed 600 million, recovering to 70 percent to 80 percent of last year's level.
