How do I get started?
You need to have 32 quest points before you can begin the Dragon Slayer quest. Once you've reached this level, you are able to inquire with the Guildmaster of the Champion's Guild if there is an available quest.

The Guildmaster will then direct you to speak to Oziach in Edgeville. He's right next to the Wilderness wall.

Oziach will tell you that he's looking to kill Elvarg, a green dragon that lives on Crandor Island.

After you have spoken to Oziach, you must return to the Champion's Guild to speak to the Guildmaster once more. If you have the Chronicle you can use it to direct you straight to there.

The Guildmaster will direct you to search for three pieces of a map to help you locate Crandor island. He will also tell you how to purchase an armored boat and a shield to defend yourself from Elvarg's fire damage.

Ask the Guildmaster any questions you have otherwise the quest will not be completed.

Duke Horacio will provide you with an antidragon shield for free in Lumbridge. He is located on the 1st floor of the Lumbridge castle. You can also purchase one at the Grand Exchange.

Part 1: Summary

How do I locate the three map pieces?
For part two of our optimal quest guide for Dragon Slayer, you must find three map pieces.

We've included quick instructions for locating each of the three map pieces listed below. These guides can be completed in any order.

Lozar's Map
Visit the Port Sarim jail.
Talk to Wormbrain, and he will give you 10,000 gold in exchange for the map.
Alternately, kill Wormbrain and use telegrab (33 Magic) to steal the map pieces.
Melzar's Map
Before starting, make sure you have the Maze Key obtained from the Guildmaster.
Then, you can go next to Rimmington and enter Melzar's Maze.
Take out the zombie rat using the long tail in order to obtain the next key.
Open the door at the north end of the maze, and climb up the ladder.
You will then require an eagle cape and tube top to defeat the ghost.
To climb the next ladder Open the North door on the Eastern side.
Kill a skeleton with the round shield in order to collect the third Maze key. Find the southernmost door.
Open the door and climb the ladder three times.
To obtain the next key, you must kill all the zombies. Step inside the blue door.
Kill Melzar the Mad to get the next key. Then, proceed through the purple doors.
Take down the lesser demon and then open the green gate.
Find the chest by opening it and searching inside. Then, you will find the map piece.
Thalzar's Map
Visit the Ice mountain north-west of Barbarian village.
Contact Oracle.
Enter the Dwarven mine and click right to use the following items: silk, unfired bowl lobster pot and wizard's mind bomb. Click on the magic door at the North-east.
The Magic door will be opened. To locate the map piece to enter it, you need to go inside it.

How can I obtain an inflatable boat?
When you've got the three map pieces, you'll need to locate the right boat to get to Crandor island. Getting the boat will be easier than the map pieces, particularly when you already own the recommended items mentioned earlier. If not, you can purchase them at the Grand Exchange.
Follow the steps below to get the boat to complete the Dragon Slayer quest:

You can add 90 nails made of steel 3, 3 planks and 2 000 gold to your collection.
Visit the Port Sarim dock and speak to Klarense.
Select the fourth option and then go to the first.
You have to pay 2,000 gold to Klarense for an inflatable boat.
Enter your new boat and proceed down the ramp.
Fix the hole 3 times.
What can I do to defeat Elvarg?
Once you've got all of the maps you require and your vessel is ready to go, you are able to talk to Captain Ned in Draynor.
Before you do ensure that you've got your anti-dragon shield, armor and food/equipment for fighting Elvarg.
Captain Ned can be found in a tiny house in the Eastern side Draynor village. Speak to Captain Ned and you'll be able invite him to become your captain.
After he's agreed that you are in agreement, you can board your ship in Port Sarim. There is Captain Ned on the vessel. Speak to him again. Your ship will begin to moving towards Crandor in a cutscene.
